These emails from Sinclair Inlet Book Co. might feel a little different.
Or maybe not yet.
About 25 years ago, I started working in internet marketing. I learned how to write things that get attention.
How to push.
How to sell.
It worked. I even made money doing it.
But every time I hit “save,” it felt off. It wasn’t me.
I’ve left traces of that voice online. In older notes. In how I used to say things. Things I learned. That don’t fit anymore.
So I’m changing it. Not trying to sound better. Just trying to sound like myself.
It’s still a work in progress.
But I’m trying to build something here. Not just a bookstore.
Something kind.
Something useful.
Something that doesn’t need an explanation.
